I fed milk to my little cat at home, but almost lost it

Because my work has not been so busy recently and there is only one person at home, I decided to welcome a little cat back. I rested on weekends, got up early in the morning to wash up, and after breakfast, I came to the nearby pet store. There were many cats and dogs in the pet store, but I still fell in love with it at first sight, a three-month-old little cat. Then I bought some cat daily necessities from the pet store and paid the money to take it home. When I first arrived home, I felt a little afraid. I knew it was out of an instinctive reaction to a strange environment.

Because I saw too many cats and mice before, I thought the cats were eaten. So after I placed the kitten, I went to a nearby supermarket to buy two boxes of milk. When I returned home, considering that the temperature is a little low now, I heated the milk a little and carefully poured the milk into the bowl prepared for the kitten.

It has been a while since the little cat came back, and it is almost noon. The little cat was a little impatient and kept chirping there. I felt a little distressed when I saw it, so I gently caught it and put it next to the dining bowl. When the little cat saw that there was something to eat, it lowered its head and started eating.

But what I didn't expect was that the little cat was fine at the beginning after eating it, but after an hour it started to get diarrhea. The butt was still full of water, which scared me, so I quickly carried the little cat to the pet hospital. After arriving at the hospital, the little cat was almost exhausted, but it stopped getting diarrhea. I thought, maybe it was because I had no choice.

The doctor saw the kitten and guessed what was going on. He casually asked, "You have seen too many cats and mice." I smiled awkwardly. Then the doctor prescribed some medicines to regulate the cat's stomach and intestines and told me not to feed milk anymore, your cat is intolerant to lactose. Although I was a little confused and intolerant, I remembered the saying that I should not feed milk to the little cat.

When I got home, I gently placed the little cat in its nest. It might be because it was so diarrhea that it was already asleep. Then I started to clean up the mess in the house. After packing up, I saw that the cat was not awake yet, so I hurried to the pet supplies store to buy cat milk powder. After I came back, I put the things in place. Seeing that the kitten was awake, I fed it medicine and some milk powder. It took two days to get better.

Later I searched specifically and found that the reactions of kittens after drinking milk are divided into two types: one is diarrhea, and the other is not diarrhea. What causes these two completely different results is the lactose in milk. Many kittens have lactose intolerance. When this kitten drinks milk with lactose, lactose enters the body, and the stomach and intestines cannot secrete enough lactose enzymes to decompose lactose, which causes lactose to not be absorbed by the stomach and intestines, which will eventually lead to diarrhea for the kitten. The difference is that kittens who eat milk will not get diarrhea have enough lactose enzymes to decompose lactose so that lactose can be absorbed by the stomach and intestines, so this kitten can feed milk.

It is recommended not to use milk to test whether your cat has lactose tolerance. After all, it is not good for you to suffer from diarrhea, and it is not good for it. At the same time, not only cow's milk, but also goat's milk and some foods with high lactose are not allowed. If you keep a small cat, it is better to buy special cat milk powder to feed it.
