On March 31, 2020, the 40th meeting of the Standing Committee of the Sixth Shenzhen Municipal People's Congress passed the "Regulations on Comprehensive Prohibition of the Edible Wild Animals in Shenzhen Special Economic Zones" (hereinafter referred to as the "Regulations"), which will come into effect on May 1, 2020. The Regulations clearly stipulate in the form of a white list: pigs, cows, sheep, donkeys, rabbits, chickens, ducks, geese, pigeons, and quails can be eaten, not including cats and dogs!
