Sky Sports issued an article reporting the progress of the Wolves' search for a coach.
It is reported that Wolves’ approach to Middlesbrough head coach Rob Edwards has been rejected.
Wolves formally requested contact on Thursday, but Middlesbrough have refused to negotiate with them.
Edwards has been one of many candidates considered by Wolves and is currently regarded as the club's most favored candidate.
The Middlesbrough coach has a deep connection with Wolves. He played more than 100 times for Wolves as a player from 2004 to 2008. He also joined the club's coaching staff to coach the U18 echelon in 2014, and was promoted to the first-team coaching position in 2015. After a brief departure, he returned to the club in 2019 as the head coach of the U23 echelon until leaving in 2021.
Edwards took over from Carrick to take charge of Middlesbrough this summer and led the team to third place in the Championship.
