Wu Qiuqiao, 27, raised a stray cat when she was working in Beijing. She grew up in a clothing factory and made a Hanfu for the cat, and the effect was amazing.
After that, she decided to turn her hobby into a job, quit her job and returned to Changsha to make Hanfu for cats.
In less than a year, her store’s monthly sales peaked at over 70,000 yuan, and she gained many friends.
"Cats have more clothes than me"
Qiu Qiao now has two cats, one named "Xiaobei" and the other named "Liuliu".
What does a cat look like wearing Hanfu? Qiu Qiao showed the well-behaved ragdoll cat "Xiao Bei".
Qiu Qiao walked into the bedroom and opened the closet. There was also a dedicated space for the cats.
These exquisite clothes are all original works designed by Qiu Qiao herself.
From design to pattern making, from fabric selection to accessories, Qiu Qiao does everything herself from beginning to end. "In addition to looking good, it also needs to be easy to wear and durable. Use the same standards as baby clothes to make pet Hanfu."
In Qiu Qiao's storage room, fabrics for proofing are still placed in piles. Qiu Qiao said that when she was making her first set of cat Hanfu "Lychee Ripe", she bought hundreds of fabrics before finally choosing one she was satisfied with.
"I resigned because I like everything about cats."
All Qiu Qiao's motivation and inspiration come from her own cats.
After graduating from university in 2016, Qiu Qiao worked in media, copywriting and other jobs in Beijing. I have to spend more than an hour commuting every day and face endless overtime.
At that time, Qiu Qiao’s closest companion was her cat.
Qiu Qiao often takes pictures of cats. She searched for suitable pet clothing, but she didn't like the product, so she made two sets by herself, and found that they were amazing.
"I have always been a hobby-driven person. I want to spend my time on things that interest me and make me feel happy." Qiu Qiao decisively resigned and returned home.
Qiu Qiao’s hometown is in Hunan, and her family runs a small clothing factory. Since childhood, Qiu Qiao has been exposed to all kinds of clothes and fabrics.
What Qiu Qiao loved most in her childhood was making clothes for her "dolls". After returning home to start a business, Qiu Qiao turned her hobby into a job.
In this process, many "parents" gave Qiu Qiao support beyond the consumption relationship. Some people send her specialties, some come to Changsha to play with her, and some ask her to name their cats.
"I hope my work will always be my hobby"
From one person to a group of people, Qiu Qiao has gathered like-minded partners on this path. "We all love small animals and have similar interests and hobbies."
Since 2020, Qiu Qiao's career has gradually improved. On many platforms, "monthly income of 70,000" has become her label, but she admitted that this number does not mean anything.
"We are just a niche industry. It seems like huge profits in this industry, but in fact there are none." Qiu Qiao said that the biggest progress now is to become more professional than before and start to get involved in other product lines.
"I hope that my products can be known by more pet owners who like Chinese fashion, and even go abroad, so that Hanfu can be loved by more people together with European, American and Japanese pet clothing, so that every cat can live an exquisite and beautiful life."
