Attacking AI demand, the new investment in Japan's NAND Flash factory Kioxia will be fully shipped in the first half of 2026, and the share price of Sandisk, a partner who has opened a brand on the Nasdaq Exchange in the United States, once set a record high.
Sandisk fell 1.15% on September 30 and closed at $112.2, with a surge of more than 6% to $120.74, and a record high on February 13. Sandisk closed at $113.5 on September 29, a record high in history.
Guangqi and Sandisk announced on September 30 that the "Standard 2" (K2) of the Kitaki Factory, located in Kitaki Iwate Prefecture, Japan, has begun investment. Due to the popularity of AI and the increase in medium- and long-term demand for NAND Flash, K2 will introduce the 8th generation 3D NAND Flash products (stacked 218 layers) of CBA (CMOS directly Bonded to Array) technology and the NAND Flash products that will continue to evolve in the future. It will start full shipment in the first half of 2026, and will continue to invest equipment in accordance with the market trend in the future to improve production capacity in a phased manner.
Koichiro Shibayama, the director of the "Kei Iwate Co., Ltd." which runs the Koichi Manufacturing Co., Ltd., said, "The 8th generation and the next generation of NAND Flash products produced by K2 will provide new value for the rapidly growing AI market. The Kernel will continue to take advantage of the partnership and scale economy of both parties to produce advanced NAND Flash products and achieve organic growth." Guanqi and Sandisk have been working together for more than 20 years, and both parties jointly operated the Siri City Industrial Factory (Sanchong County Siri City) and the Beishang Industrial Factory.
According to Japanese media reports, the production capacity of K2 full production and northbound factory will almost double. The number of employees in North China's factory is about 2,400. In order to increase production, it is planned to hire 100 people in 2026 and 2027.
