U.S. President Donald Trump revealed to the media that he plans to discuss NVIDIA’s “super duper” AI chip when he meets with Chinese President Xi Jinping on October 30.
CNBC reported that Trump was asked about issues related to the Trump-Xi meeting at a press conference on the 29th. He said, "We will talk about NVIDIA's super advanced chip Blackwell."
Trump seems to be referring to the GB200 Grace Blackwell Superchip, which is NVIDIA’s most advanced AI chip.
Trump praised Blackwell, saying that the technology is about ten years ahead of other chips. He said, "This is our country. We are about ten years ahead of everyone else in the field of high-precision chips. I think we might talk to President Xi about this issue."
Investing.com reported that Trump said in a speech to business leaders in Tokyo earlier on the 29th that he would meet with NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang on the 29th.
Trump specifically congratulated NVIDIA on its recent achievements, pointing out that "NVIDIA and TSMC announced 11 days ago that the ultra-fast advanced chip Blackwell has been put into production and is completely manufactured in the United States."
Trump emphasized that many chip manufacturers, including NVIDIA and TSMC, are currently "investing hundreds of billions of dollars in the United States."
