Although the Trump administration has loosened export restrictions on China's NVIDIA H20 AI chips, China is still continuing to develop AI chips in order to no longer rely on NVIDIA or AMD's products, which makes China highly expected for the Shengten series of AI chips. However, even though the number of the "Ascend 910B" and "Ascend 910C" was claimed to have the same computing power as the NVIDIA product, it further doubted the final result of China's advanced process advancement after it was discovered that the 7-nanometer chip of NTD is suspected to be used inside.

Although Hua calls these processors manufactured in China and produced by SMIC International, foreign media reports pointed out that China's 7-nanometer process technology is actually not mature. Therefore, most of the two processors are made of 7-nanometer chips from tyrene.

Previously, foreign media Wccftech quoted a report from research organization SemiAnalysis, saying that the outside world often mistakenly believes that China is manufactured in China, but in fact it can only be considered designed in China. Even though, Hua calls these Shengten series processors manufactured in China and are produced internationally by the largest local crystalline foundry SMIC. But China's 7-nanometer technology is actually not mature. Therefore, the report said that most of the two processors are made of NTD 7 nanometer chips.

SemiAnalysis' report emphasizes that China still relies heavily on overseas technology in the semiconductor field, whether it is Samsung's high-frequency wide memory (HBM) or TECHNOLOGY chips, or equipment from the United States, the Netherlands and Japan. Although SMIC International claims to be able to produce 7-nanometer-process chips, it is clearly not willing to bet on immature processes. Therefore, after the US government, TechInsights and other companies disassembled and analyzed the two chips "Sheng Teng 910B" and "Sheng Teng 910C", each using NTD chips.

As for how China avoids US sanctions to obtain Taiwan's chips, its previous case of Sophgo playing white gloves is generally seen. The process was that China ordered 7-nanometer chips worth about US$500 million from Taiwan Electronics through China Computing Technology. Because of this, Taiwan Electricity may be punished by the US office at a daily price of US$1 billion.

In fact, the report further pointed out that the chip ban imposed by the United States on China may have little impact on Chinese technology companies, because these companies may be able to exploit legal loopholes or the black market to further acquire AI chips. For example, a recent report from the UK Financial Times pointed out that within three months after the U.S. government further tightened chip export controls in 2025, NVIDIA (NVIDIA) advanced artificial intelligence (AI) chips worth $1 billion have been smuggled into China.
